Book Review by Jennifer Hacker

This book is a MUST read while you are still pregnant if you want your child to be content, eat on a regular schedule, and sleep through the night at a very early age (between 8 and 12 weeks of age).

The techniques outlined in the book are not for the faint of heart. Parenting is hard and teaching an infant to soothe himself back to sleep is not easy. You will have to listen to a certain amount of crying. But you as the parent must do what is best for your child, not just whatever it takes to relieve a temporary upset.

When you become a parent, you begin a lifelong journey of teaching and training. You may as well start from the beginning with an understanding that your child’s long term health and happiness must be prioritized over your child’s immediate demands.

Notice I did not say your child’s needs. Of course your child’s fundamental needs must be met.

But you must be careful not to rush to meet every desire and demandchildren must learn how to live in the world and develop coping skills to handle the challenges and difficulties they will invariably face. And this book illustrates how this process begins only a few weeks after your precious baby is born.
